Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, oil catch pan, rags, engine degreaser.
  • Allow the engine to cool down.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Identify and Replace Gaskets/Seals

A. Valve Cover Gasket

  1. Remove the engine cover by unscrewing any bolts holding it in place.
  2. Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the valve cover.
  3. Unscrew the valve cover bolts using a socket set.
  4. Gently lift off the valve cover and remove the old gasket.
  5. Clean the surfaces of the valve cover and cylinder head.
  6. Place the new gasket onto the valve cover, ensuring it sits properly.
  7. Reinstall the valve cover and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 10 Nm).
  8. Reconnect any electrical connectors and reinstall the engine cover.

B. Oil Pan Gasket

  1. Drain the engine oil using an oil catch pan.
  2. Remove the oil pan bolts with a socket set.
  3. Carefully pry the oil pan away from the engine block.
  4. Remove the old gasket material from both the oil pan and engine block.
  5. Clean both surfaces thoroughly.
  6. Apply a thin layer of RTV silicone sealant or use a new gasket.
  7. Reinstall the oil pan and torque the bolts according to specifications.
  8. Refill the engine with the correct grade of oil.
3. Inspect and Replace Oil Filter
  1. Locate the oil filter; use an oil filter wrench to remove it.
  2. Clean the mounting surface on the engine.
  3. Install a new oil filter, lubricating the rubber gasket with new oil before tightening it.
  4. Ensure the filter is secure but avoid overtightening.
