Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, screwdriver set, and impact wrench (optional).
  • Safety Warnings: Always wear safety glasses and gloves. Ensure the vehicle is securely supported before working underneath.
2. Remove the Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts using a socket wrench.
  2. Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  1. Locate the strut assembly at the wheel hub and top mount.
  2. Disconnect any brake lines or sensors attached to the strut, noting their positions for reinstallation.
  3. Remove the lower strut mounting bolts using a socket wrench.
  4. If applicable, use a strut spring compressor to compress the coil spring.
  5. Remove the top strut mount bolts within the engine compartment or under the dashboard.
  6. Carefully extract the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Replace the Strut
  1. Compare the old strut with the new one to ensure they match.
  2. Install the new strut into the vehicle, positioning it similarly to the old strut.
  3. Secure the top strut mount with bolts and tighten to the manufacturer's specifications (consult the service manual for torque values).
  4. Reattach the lower strut mounting bolts and tighten securely.
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reconnect any brake lines or sensors that were previously disconnected.
  2. Install the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  3. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  4. Test drive the vehicle to ensure proper function and check for any signs of leaks.
