Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set (including 10mm and 12mm sockets)
    • Torque wrench
    • Spark plug socket (with rubber insert)
    • Ratchet
    • Extension bar
    • Dielectric grease
  • Parts Required:
    • New spark plugs (check specifications for the correct type)
    • New ignition coil packs (if needed)
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Use a 10mm socket to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift off the cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coils by pressing the tab and pulling them off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a 10mm socket.
  • Gently pull the ignition coils out of the spark plug wells and set them aside.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket with an extension to reach the spark plugs.
  • Turn the socket counterclockwise to loosen and remove the old spark plugs.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for signs of wear or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 0.028-0.032 inches).
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs (optional).
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into their respective holes by hand, then tighten them with the spark plug socket. Torque to the manufacturer’s specifications, typically around 15-20 lb-ft.
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
  • Insert the ignition coils back into the spark plug wells and secure them with bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to the ignition coils.
7. Replace Engine Cover
  • Position the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with bolts using a 10mm socket.
