Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before beginning work.
2. Change Engine Oil and Filter
  • Drain Engine Oil: Place a drain pan under the oil pan, remove the drain plug, and allow the oil to fully drain.
  • Replace Oil Filter: Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter before installation.
  • Refill Engine Oil: Replace the drain plug and refill the engine with the manufacturer's recommended oil type and quantity.
3. Inspect and Replace VVT Solenoid (if faulty)
  • Remove the Engine Cover: Locate and remove any screws or clips holding the engine cover in place.
  • Disconnect the VVT Solenoid Connector: Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid.
  • Remove the VVT Solenoid: Unscrew the solenoid from its mounting using the appropriate socket size and lift it out.
  • Install New VVT Solenoid: Apply a small amount of oil to the new solenoid's O-ring and install it in reverse order of removal. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
4. Verify Camshaft Timing
  • Remove Valve Cover: Unbolt the valve cover and carefully lift it off. Ensure that the timing marks align correctly on the camshaft and crankshaft.
  • Adjust Timing if Necessary: If timing is off, follow the manufacturer's specifications to adjust the timing chain/belt and align all marks correctly.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall Engine Cover: Secure the engine cover back in place with screws or clips.
  • Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
6. Clear Codes and Test Drive
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0011 code and take the vehicle for a test drive to confirm repair success.
