💡 Expert Tip

For complex repairs like this, consider taking photos at each step. This helps if you need to reverse a step or consult with a mechanic. Also, keep all removed parts organized - you may need to reference them during reassembly.

Verification

After completing the repair, verify that the issue has been resolved:

  • ✓Test the affected component to ensure it functions correctly
  • ✓Check for any error codes or warning lights
  • ✓Monitor the vehicle for a few days to ensure the issue does not recur

Prevention Tips

To prevent this issue from occurring again:

  • •Follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule
  • •Address warning signs early before they develop into major issues
  • •Use quality parts and fluids recommended for your vehicle
  • •Keep detailed records of all repairs and maintenance

Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to ensure safety.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, fuel line disconnect tool.
  • Remove the engine cover if necessary using the appropriate socket.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each fuel injector.
  • Use a fuel line disconnect tool to carefully detach the fuel lines from the fuel rail.
  • Unbolt the fuel rail from the engine using the socket set and remove it along with the injectors.
3. Inspect and Replace Injectors
  • Check the condition of each injector for clogs or wear.
  • If faulty, replace with new fuel injectors specific to BMW E90/E91.
  • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-rings of the new injectors to facilitate installation.
  • Insert the new injectors into the fuel rail and secure them as per manufacturer specifications.
4. Reinstall Fuel Rail
  • Position the fuel rail with the new injectors back onto the engine.
  • Bolt the fuel rail down using the torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specified torque values.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors to each injector.
5. Final Checks
  • Reinstall the engine cover if removed.
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Replace the fuel pump fuse and turn the ignition to the "on" position to prime the fuel system.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks.
