Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Change Engine Oil and Filter
  1. Drain Oil
    • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
    • Remove the drain plug and allow the oil to fully drain.
  2. Replace Oil Filter
    • Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
    • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
    • Install the new oil filter and tighten it according to manufacturer specifications.
3. Replace VVT Solenoid
  1. Remove the Engine Cover
    • Use a socket set to remove the bolts securing the engine cover and lift it off.
  2. Disconnect Electrical Connector
    • Locate the VVT solenoid and carefully disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Remove the VVT Solenoid
    • Unscrew the bolts securing the VVT solenoid using a socket wrench.
    • Pull the solenoid out of its mounting position and replace it with a new one.
  4. Reconnect Electrical Connector
    • Plug in the electrical connector once the new solenoid is securely in place.
4. Inspect and Adjust Timing
  1. Timing Chain/Belt Inspection
    • Remove any necessary components to access the timing chain/belt.
    • Check for wear, slack, and alignment; replace if necessary.
  2. Adjust Timing
    • If the timing is out of alignment, follow the manufacturer's specifications to adjust it appropriately.
    • Use a torque wrench to tighten all timing-related bolts to the specified torque values.
5. Reassemble and Refill Engine Oil
  1. Reinstall Engine Cover
    • Place the engine cover back on and tighten the bolts securely.
  2. Refill Engine Oil
    • Add the correct type and amount of engine oil through the oil filler cap.
    • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes while checking for leaks.
