Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool down.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket.
  • Remove the ignition coil for cylinder 3:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Unbolt the coil and carefully pull it out.
  • Remove the spark plug:
    1. Use the spark plug socket to unscrew the spark plug.
    2. Inspect the old spark plug for signs of wear or fouling.
  • Install the new spark plug:
    1. Hand-tighten the new spark plug into the cylinder head.
    2. Torque to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 18 lb-ft).
3. Replace Ignition Coil
  • Tools Required: Socket set.
  • Install the new ignition coil:
    1. Position the new coil over the spark plug.
    2. Bolt it down securely.
    3. Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Check Fuel Injector
  • Tools Required: Fuel injector puller (if necessary).
  • If applicable, remove the fuel rail to access the injector:
    1. Disconnect the fuel line and relieve fuel pressure.
    2. Unbolt the fuel rail and carefully pull it off.
  • Inspect or replace the fuel injector for cylinder 3:
    1. If cleaning, use an appropriate injector cleaner.
    2. If replacing, install the new injector and reassemble the fuel rail.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and check for any misfire codes using the OBD-II scanner.
  • Clear the codes if the engine runs smoothly.
