  • Wear safety gloves and eyewear.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Loosen the lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground.
    2. Raise the vehicle using the jack and secure it with jack stands.
    3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, C-clamp or brake caliper tool
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the brake caliper and remove the caliper bolts using the socket set.
    2. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and suspend it using a bungee cord (do not hang by the brake line).

    4. Inspect the rotor; replace if necessary.
    5. Apply brake cleaner to the rotor and pads.
    6. Compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp or brake caliper tool.
    7. Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
    8. Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually around 25-35 Nm).
4. Install New Brake Pad Wear Sensor
  • Tools Required: None additional
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the old brake pad wear sensor from the old brake pads.
    2. Connect the new sensor to the new pads, ensuring it is secured properly.
5. Reinstall Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Tools Required: Lug wrench, jack, jack stands
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
