Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Unscrew and remove the access panel to reveal the fuel pump assembly.
3. Inspect and Test the Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Use a multimeter to test for voltage at the connector while turning the ignition to the "On" position.
    • Expected Voltage: Approximately 12V.
  • If voltage is present, the fuel pump may be faulty. If not, troubleshoot wiring or relay issues.
4. Replace the Fuel Pump (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Fuel line disconnect tool, torque wrench.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines using the fuel line disconnect tool.
  • Remove the retaining ring securing the fuel pump assembly and lift it out.
  • Replace the fuel pump with a new unit, ensuring O-rings are replaced.
  • Reinstall the fuel pump assembly and reconnect the fuel lines.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the access panel and rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the fuel pump assembly.
