Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and components.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Software Update
  • Connect the vehicle to a compatible computer or USB drive with the latest software.
  • Follow BMW’s instructions to update the infotainment system software.
  • Reconnect the battery after the update is complete.
3. Inspect and Clean Connections
  • Remove the trim panel around the infotainment unit using a trim removal tool.
  • Unscrew and gently pull out the infotainment unit from the dashboard.
  • Inspect all wiring harnesses and connectors for damage or corrosion; clean any corrosion using electrical contact cleaner.
  • Reconnect all connectors securely and ensure they are seated properly.
4. Power Cycle the Infotainment System
  • With the infotainment unit out, disconnect the power connector for about 10 minutes to allow the system to reset.
  • Reconnect the power and reinstall the unit back into the dashboard.
5. Replace Fuses
  • Locate the fuse box and identify the fuses related to the infotainment system (refer to the owner’s manual).
  • Remove any blown fuses and replace them with new fuses of the same amperage.
6. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the infotainment unit and secure it with screws.
  • Replace the trim panel and ensure it is properly aligned.
  • Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
