Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts as listed below.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Wear safety gloves and glasses for protection.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Lines (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, brake line tool, fluid catch pan.
  • Locate the damaged brake line during the diagnostic step.
  • Use the wrench to disconnect the brake line from the fitting.
  • Remove the damaged line and measure it for replacement.
  • Install the new brake line, ensuring it follows the original routing.
  • Torque the fittings according to manufacturer specifications.
3. Replace Brake Caliper (if leaking)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, brake caliper tool, torque wrench.
  • Loosen the wheel lug nuts and lift the vehicle with a jack.
  • Remove the wheel to access the brake assembly.
  • Detach the brake line from the caliper using the wrench.
  • Remove the caliper mounting bolts and take the caliper off.
  • Install the new caliper, securing it with mounting bolts.
  • Reconnect the brake line and torque to manufacturer specifications.
4. Replace Master Cylinder (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, brake fluid, turkey baster.
  • Remove the brake fluid from the reservoir using the turkey baster.
  • Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder.
  • Remove the mounting bolts securing the master cylinder.
  • Install the new master cylinder and secure it with bolts.
  • Reconnect the brake lines and torque them appropriately.
5. Bleed Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, assistant (optional).
  • Start by filling the brake fluid reservoir with new fluid.
  • Begin bleeding at the furthest wheel from the master cylinder (usually rear passenger).
  • Use the brake bleeder kit to remove air from the brake lines.
  • Repeat for each wheel until no air bubbles are present.
