Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Safety gear: wear gloves and safety glasses.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and support it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts using a socket wrench and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors
  • Inspection:
    • Use a dial indicator to measure rotor runout. If it exceeds manufacturer's specifications, replace the rotor.
  • Replacement:
    • Remove the caliper bolts and lift the caliper off the rotor.
    • Secure the caliper with a bungee cord, do not let it hang by the brake line.
    • Remove the old rotor by unscrewing any retaining screws and sliding it off the hub.
    • Install the new rotor by sliding it onto the hub and securing it with screws.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Inspect the caliper bracket and clean it if necessary.
  • Install new brake pads into the caliper bracket ensuring they are seated properly.
5. Reassemble and Bleed Brakes
  • Reposition the caliper over the newly installed pads and torque the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and bleed the brake system to remove any air using a brake bleeder kit.
