Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Elevate the vehicle securely on jack stands and remove the front wheels.
  • Tools required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, pry bar, hammer, and ball joint separator.
2. Remove the Wheel
  • Loosen and remove the lug nuts using a socket wrench.
  • Take off the front wheels and set them aside.
3. Disconnect the Ball Joint
  • Remove the cotter pin (if present) and nut securing the ball joint to the control arm using a socket wrench.
  • Use a ball joint separator tool to separate the ball joint from the control arm. Tap the separator with a hammer if necessary.
4. Replace the Ball Joint
  • Remove the worn ball joint from the steering knuckle or control arm.
  • Install the new ball joint by reversing the removal process.
  • Ensure the ball joint is properly seated and secure it with the new nut (if applicable). Torque to manufacturer's specifications.
5. Reassemble and Reinstall the Wheel
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
