Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Tools required:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Torx socket set
    • Cleaning brush
    • Throttle body cleaner
    • Microfiber cloths
2. Remove the Throttle Body
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  2. Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body.
  3. Loosen and remove the intake duct connected to the throttle body using a flathead screwdriver or appropriate socket.
  4. Remove the throttle body mounting bolts using the Torx socket.
  5. Carefully detach the throttle body from the intake manifold, ensuring the gasket remains intact.
3. Clean the Throttle Body
  1. Spray throttle body cleaner inside the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and walls.
  2. Use a cleaning brush to gently scrub away carbon buildup without scratching the surface.
  3. Wipe the interior with a microfiber cloth to remove debris and excess cleaner.
  4. Ensure the throttle plate moves freely without obstruction after cleaning.
4. Reinstall the Throttle Body
  1. Place a new gasket onto the intake manifold if necessary.
  2. Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold and align the mounting holes.
  3. Secure the throttle body with the mounting bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 10 Nm).
  4. Reconnect the intake duct and electrical connectors.
  5. Reinstall the engine cover if it was removed.
5. Final Check
  1. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2. Start the engine and allow it to idle to check for any irregularities.
  3. Ensure the check engine light is off and monitor for a smooth idle.
