Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, pry bar.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheels using a lug wrench.
2. Remove Strut Assembly
  1. Disconnect the sway bar link: Remove the nut securing the sway bar link to the strut and separate it using a pry bar if necessary.
  2. Unbolt the brake line bracket: Remove any clips or bolts securing the brake line to the strut assembly to prevent damage.
  3. Remove the strut top mount: Open the hood, remove the protective cover, and unbolt the strut mount using the socket set.
  4. Unbolt the strut from the knuckle: Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle, using a socket set and possibly a hammer if the strut is stuck.
  5. Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle: Carefully pull the strut assembly out from the wheel well.
3. Replace Components
  1. Compress the strut spring: Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring. Ensure even compression on both sides.
  2. Remove the old strut from the spring: Unbolt the strut from the top mount and separate it from the spring.
  3. Install the new strut: Position the new strut in the spring, ensuring proper alignment, and secure it with the top mount.
  4. Release the spring: Carefully release the spring tension while ensuring the strut is seated correctly.
4. Reinstall Strut Assembly
  1. Reinsert the strut assembly: Position the strut back into the wheel well and secure it to the steering knuckle with the previously removed bolts.
  2. Reattach the strut top mount: Bolt the top mount back in place under the hood.
  3. Reconnect the sway bar link and brake line: Secure the sway bar link to the strut and reattach the brake line bracket.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  1. Replace the wheels and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the jack.
  3. Tighten all suspension components to the specified torque values as per manufacturer specifications.
