Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather required tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Drain Transmission Fluid
  • Remove the transmission fluid pan using a socket set.
  • Allow the old fluid to drain into a suitable container.
  • Replace the pan gasket if necessary.
3. Remove Torque Converter
  • Disconnect the transmission from the engine by removing the bolts securing the bell housing.
  • Support the transmission with a transmission jack and lower it slightly.
  • Carefully remove the torque converter from the input shaft of the transmission.
4. Install New Torque Converter
  • Align the new torque converter with the input shaft and push it into place until it seats properly.
  • Reattach the transmission to the engine, ensuring all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the transmission fluid pan with a new gasket and torque to appropriate specifications.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Refill the transmission with the correct type and amount of fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
6. Test Drive
  • Start the vehicle and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Perform a test drive to ensure proper torque converter operation and check for any abnormal symptoms.
