Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and parts needed.
• Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
• Wear safety gloves and eyewear.

2. Lift the Vehicle

• Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle as needed.
• Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.

3. Remove Wheel

• Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
• Take off the wheel to access the braking components.

4. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors

• Inspection: Check the rotors for warping by placing a dial indicator on the surface; any deviation over 0.002 inches indicates warping.
• Replacement: If warped, remove the caliper by unscrewing the caliper bolts, then slide the caliper off the rotor. Remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws if applicable.
• Install the new rotor, ensuring it's seated properly. Reinstall the caliper.

5. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads

• Check the thickness of the pads; if below 3mm, replace them.
• Remove the old pads from the caliper bracket.
• Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads and install them.

6. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle

• Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
• Lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 80-100 ft-lbs).
• Recheck the brake system for any components that may need adjustment or tightening.
