Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, screwdrivers, power steering fluid, rags.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is off and cool.
2. Replace Leaking Hoses
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Identify the damaged hoses during the visual inspection.
    2. Use a socket set to loosen and remove the hose clamps.
    3. Carefully detach the damaged hoses from the pump and steering rack.
    4. Install new hoses by reversing the removal process, ensuring proper connection and secure tightening of clamps.
3. Replace Power Steering Pump (if needed)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical issues.
    2. Remove the serpentine belt by using a wrench to relieve tension on the belt tensioner.
    3. Disconnect the power steering pump from the reservoir and the steering rack.
    4. Remove the pump mounting bolts and take out the pump.
    5. Install the new power steering pump and reconnect all hoses and fittings.
    6. Reinstall the serpentine belt and reconnect the battery.
4. Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
    2. Fill the reservoir with the manufacturer's recommended power steering fluid.
    3. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock to bleed the system of air.
    4. Check fluid level again and top off if necessary.
