Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool before beginning work.
2. Recharge the AC System
  • Tools Required: Refrigerant gauge set, refrigerant canister, safety glasses, gloves.
  • If refrigerant levels are low:
    1. Connect the low-pressure side of the manifold gauge to the AC service port.
    2. Start the engine and set the AC to max cold and high fan.
    3. Slowly add refrigerant until the correct pressure is reached (typically 30-40 PSI on the low side).
    4. Disconnect the gauge set and replace the service port cap.
3. Replace the Cabin Air Filter (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver or trim removal tool.
  • If the cabin air filter is clogged:
    1. Locate the cabin air filter housing (usually behind the glove box).
    2. Remove the screws or clips securing the housing.
    3. Carefully remove the old filter and clean any debris from the housing.
    4. Install the new filter in the correct orientation.
    5. Reassemble the housing and secure it with screws or clips.
4. Inspect and Replace the AC Compressor (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, refrigerant recovery machine.
  • If the compressor is not engaging:
    1. Remove the drive belt by loosening the tensioner.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor.
    3. Remove the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine.
    4. Unbolt and remove the AC compressor from the engine.
    5. Install the new compressor and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
    6. Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall the drive belt.
