Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel line disconnect tool (if applicable).
  • Remove the rear seat cushion (if applicable) to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Remove the access panel or trunk liner as needed to gain access to the fuel pump assembly.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench, safety goggles.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Carefully relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel cap and using a rag to catch any fuel spillage.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the pump using a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary.
  • Remove the retaining ring or screws holding the fuel pump in place and carefully lift the pump out of the tank.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Parts Required: New fuel pump assembly.
  • Clean the area around the fuel pump opening to avoid contamination.
  • Place the new fuel pump into the tank, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  • Secure the pump with the retaining ring or screws, applying the correct torque specifications.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the access panel and rear seat cushion if removed.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (without starting) to prime the fuel system, then check for leaks around the fuel pump.
  • Start the engine and observe its operation.
