1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, C-clamp or brake caliper tool, and a bungee cord or rope.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the ignition.
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheel of the axle you are servicing (do not fully remove them yet).
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper
  • Locate the caliper mounting bolts on the back of the caliper.
  • Use the appropriate socket to remove these bolts.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor and support it using a bungee cord or rope to avoid straining the brake line.
4. Replace the Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
