Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, torque wrench, serpentine belt tool or long-handled wrench, safety gloves.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Access the Serpentine Belt
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable, using a socket set.
  • Locate the serpentine belt routing diagram, usually found on a sticker near the engine or in the owner’s manual.
3. Release Tension on the Belt
  • Use a serpentine belt tool or a long-handled wrench to rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise.
  • While holding the tensioner, slip the serpentine belt off one of the pulleys, preferably the last one you will remove.
4. Remove the Old Serpentine Belt
  • Carefully release the tensioner back to its resting position.
  • Remove the belt completely from the engine, following the routing diagram for reference.
5. Install the New Serpentine Belt
  • Compare the old belt with the new belt to ensure proper sizing.
  • Begin routing the new belt according to the routing diagram, starting from the crankshaft pulley.
  • Ensure the belt is seated properly on all pulleys.
6. Apply Tension and Final Checks
  • Use the serpentine belt tool to rotate the tensioner again and slip the belt over the last pulley.
  • Release the tensioner and ensure the belt is properly tensioned and aligned.
  • Reinstall the engine cover if removed and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
