Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Safety gear: gloves and safety glasses.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front/rear of the vehicle as necessary.
  • Secure the vehicle on jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect the Brake Pads:

    • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor without disconnecting the brake line.
    • Check the thickness of the brake pads; if less than 3 mm, proceed to replace them.
  • Replace the Brake Pads:

    • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    • Apply brake grease on the back of the new pads to reduce noise.
    • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  • Inspect the Rotors:

    • Check for any grooves, rust, or warping on the rotor surface.
  • Replace the Rotors:

    • If replacement is necessary, remove the caliper bracket and rotor.
    • Clean the hub surface with a wire brush to ensure proper seating of the new rotor.
    • Install the new rotor, ensuring it is seated properly on the hub.
6. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new brake pads and torque the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically around 30 Nm).
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque the lug nuts to the recommended specification (usually 120 Nm).
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully remove jack stands and lower the vehicle using the hydraulic jack.
8. Bleed the Brakes (if necessary)
  • If brake fluid was lost, bleed the brake system to remove any air using a brake bleeder kit.
