Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Drain Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fluid catch pan, funnel.
  • Place the fluid catch pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using the socket set.
  • Allow the fluid to drain completely into the catch pan.
3. Inspect and Replace Gaskets and Seals
  • Tools Required: Gasket scraper, seal puller.
  • Remove the old transmission pan gasket using a gasket scraper.
  • Inspect the transmission filter and replace it if necessary.
  • Replace any worn or damaged seals (input shaft seal, output shaft seal) using the seal puller.
4. Reinstall Transmission Pan
  • Clean the transmission pan and the mating surface on the transmission.
  • Place the new gasket onto the transmission pan.
  • Reinstall the transmission pan and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically around 8 Nm or 6 ft-lbs).
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Funnel.
  • Use a funnel to refill the transmission with the appropriate type of fluid (consult the owner’s manual for specifications).
  • Start the engine and shift through all gears to circulate the fluid.
6. Check for Leaks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the vehicle and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Inspect the area around the transmission pan and seals for any signs of leaks.
