Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Gather tools: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, fuel pressure gauge, socket set, and safety goggles.
2. Replace Fuel Pump Relay (if faulty)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, flathead screwdriver
  • Procedure:
    1. Locate the fuse box in the engine compartment.
    2. Remove the cover and identify the fuel pump relay.
    3. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the old relay.
    4. Install the new relay ensuring it is seated properly.
    5. Replace the fuse box cover.
3. Replace Fuel Pump (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, fuel line disconnect tool, torque wrench
  • Procedure:
    1. Disconnect Battery: Disconnect the negative terminal to prevent electrical shocks.
    2. Relieve Fuel Pressure: Remove the fuel pump fuse and start the engine until it stalls to relieve pressure.
    3. Access Fuel Pump: Remove the rear seat cushion or access panel to reach the fuel pump assembly.
    4. Disconnect Fuel Lines: Use a fuel line disconnect tool to carefully remove the fuel lines from the pump.
    5. Remove Pump Assembly: Unscrew the retaining ring and lift the pump assembly out of the tank.
    6. Inspect and Install New Pump: Compare the old pump with the new pump; install the new pump in reverse order, ensuring all seals and gaskets are replaced.
    7. Reconnect Battery: Reconnect the negative terminal.
