Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Remove the Oil Filter
  • Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter.
  • Allow any residual oil to drain into a suitable container.
  • Inspect the old filter's O-ring to ensure it came off with the filter.
3. Clean the Mounting Surface
  • Use a clean rag to wipe the oil filter mounting surface on the engine.
  • Ensure there are no debris or old oil filter O-ring remnants on the surface.
4. Install the New Oil Filter
  • Apply a thin layer of fresh engine oil to the new oil filter O-ring.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until it is snug, then tighten an additional 3/4 turn (do not over-tighten).
5. Check Surrounding Components
  • Inspect the oil cooler and oil lines for leaks and tighten any loose connections.
  • Replace any damaged components found during inspection.
6. Refill Engine Oil
  • Refill the engine with the recommended oil type and quantity as per the owner's manual.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes while checking for leaks.
7. Clean Up
  • Dispose of the old oil and oil filter properly in accordance with local regulations.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
