my BMW 5 Series F10/F11 (2010-2017) won't start and just clicks what should I do

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools including a multimeter, socket set, and jumper cables.
• Ensure the vehicle is in park (automatic) or neutral (manual) and the parking brake is engaged.
• Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.

2. Battery Inspection

1. Reconnect the battery and check the voltage with a multimeter.
   • If voltage is low, charge the battery or replace it if unable to hold a charge.
2. Clean the battery terminals using a wire brush and apply a protective terminal grease.

3. Starter Motor Check

1. Locate the starter motor under the vehicle.
2. Check the wiring and connections to the starter for any signs of corrosion or damage.
3. If connections are secure, test the starter motor by applying direct battery voltage to the starter solenoid terminal.
   • If the starter does not engage, replace the starter motor.

4. Fuse Inspection

1. Locate the fuse box (refer to the owner’s manual for location).
