Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, screwdriver set.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe area and the ignition is off.
2. Inspect Battery Installation
  • Open the key fob using a small screwdriver or a flat tool.
  • Remove the battery and check the orientation markings (+ and -) in the key fob.
  • Replace the battery ensuring it is seated correctly with the positive side facing the correct direction.
3. Test Battery Voltage
  • Set the multimeter to measure DC voltage.
  • Place the probes on the battery terminals. A functioning battery should read around 3 volts (for CR2032 type).
  • If the voltage is low, replace the battery again with a new one.
4. Reprogram the Key Fob
  • Insert the key fob into the ignition slot (if applicable) and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine.
  • Press the unlock button on the key fob for 10 seconds.
  • Turn the ignition off and remove the key fob. Test the functionality afterward.
5. Inspect Key Fob for Damage
  • Visually examine the circuit board for any signs of damage or corrosion.
  • Ensure that all buttons are intact and functioning properly.
  • If there is damage, the key fob may need to be replaced.
6. Check Vehicle's Keyless Entry System
  • Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
  • Scan for any error codes related to the keyless entry system.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to clear any errors and test the key fob again.
