Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to eliminate any electrical risks.
2. Inspect and Replace the Brake Booster (if necessary)
  1. Remove the Engine Cover (if applicable)
    • Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  2. Disconnect Vacuum Hose
    • Locate the vacuum hose attached to the brake booster and carefully disconnect it.
  3. Remove Master Cylinder
    • Unbolt the master cylinder from the brake booster using a socket set.
    • Disconnect brake lines; be prepared for brake fluid leakage. Use a container to catch fluid.
  4. Remove Brake Booster
    • Unbolt the brake booster from its mounting points in the engine bay.
    • Carefully remove the brake booster from the vehicle, ensuring no damage to surrounding components.
  5. Install New Brake Booster
    • Position the new brake booster in place and secure it with bolts, ensuring proper torque specifications (typically around 15-20 Nm).
  6. Reconnect Master Cylinder and Brake Lines
    • Attach the master cylinder to the booster, reconnect brake lines, and tighten securely.
  7. Reconnect Vacuum Hose
    • Reattach the vacuum hose to the brake booster.
  8. Reassemble Engine Cover
    • Replace the engine cover and secure with bolts as needed.
3. Refill Brake Fluid
  • If brake fluid was lost during the process, refill the master cylinder reservoir with the appropriate brake fluid (DOT 4).
4. Bleed Brake System
  • Bleed the brake system to remove any air trapped in the lines:
    • Start with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder, usually the rear passenger side.
    • Use a brake bleeder kit or have an assistant pump the brake pedal while you open and close the bleeder valve.
