Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Needed: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, torque wrench, safety gloves.
  • Safety Warning: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems.
2. Remove the O2 Sensor
  • Locate the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold or downpipe.
  • Use the socket set to carefully unscrew the O2 sensor from its mounting point.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the O2 sensor.
3. Inspect and Replace
  • Examine the old O2 sensor for physical damage, carbon buildup, or corrosion.
  • If the sensor is faulty, install a new O2 sensor by:
    • Applying anti-seize compound to the threads of the new sensor (avoid getting it on the sensor tip).
    • Threading the new sensor into the exhaust manifold and tightening it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 30 Nm).
    • Reconnecting the electrical connector securely.
4. Reconnect the Battery and Clear Codes
  • Reconnect the battery terminal.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0130 code from the ECU.
5. Test Drive
  • Take the vehicle for a test drive to ensure the O2 sensor is functioning correctly and the Check Engine Light does not reappear.
