Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • Torque wrench
  • Parts Required:
    • New oil filter
    • Engine oil (check specifications for type and capacity)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the engine is off and cool before starting work.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface for stability.
3. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug with a socket wrench and allow the oil to fully drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to manufacturer specifications (usually around 25 Nm).
4. Remove Old Oil Filter
  • Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter.
  • Be cautious as some oil may spill out when removing the filter.
  • Clean the mounting surface on the engine block where the filter attaches.
5. Install New Oil Filter
  • Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter to ensure a proper seal.
  • Screw the new oil filter onto the engine block by hand until it is snug (do not over-tighten).
6. Fill Engine with New Oil
  • Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the engine, following the manufacturer's recommended capacity.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
7. Start the Engine
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
  • Check for any leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
