Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and secure with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Replace Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Socket set, Torque wrench, Transmission fluid pump, Drain pan
  • Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and allow the old fluid to drain completely into the drain pan.
  • Inspect the drain plug for metal shavings and clean if necessary.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque to manufacturer specifications (typically 30 Nm).
  • Using the transmission fluid pump, refill the transmission with new OEM-approved fluid to the correct level (check the owner’s manual for specifications).
3. Inspect and Replace Transmission Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, Screwdriver set, Gasket scraper, Torque wrench
  • Remove the transmission pan by loosening all the bolts. Use a gasket scraper to carefully detach the pan.
  • Remove the old transmission filter and dispose of it properly.
  • Install the new transmission filter ensuring it is seated correctly.
  • Clean the transmission pan and install a new gasket.
  • Reattach the transmission pan and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications (usually around 10 Nm).
4. Reset Transmission Control Module
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner
  • Reconnect the battery and use the OBD-II scanner to clear any stored trouble codes.
  • Perform a reset of the transmission control module settings to allow it to relearn shift patterns.
