Solution
1. Preparation
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver set, fuel line disconnect tool.
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel to expose the fuel pump access cover.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Use the fuel line disconnect tool to carefully detach the fuel lines from the pump assembly.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring holding the fuel pump assembly in place and carefully lift it out of the fuel tank.
3. Inspect and Replace Fuel Pump
  • Visually inspect the fuel pump for signs of wear or damage.
  • If replacement is necessary, compare the old fuel pump with the new part to ensure compatibility.
  • Install the new fuel pump into the assembly, ensuring that all seals and gaskets are in place.
  • Reassemble the fuel pump assembly and secure it with the retaining ring.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector.
4. Reinstall and Test
  • Reinstall the access cover and rear seat.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Reinsert the fuel pump fuse and turn the ignition key to the "ON" position to prime the fuel system.
  • Check for leaks around the fuel pump and fuel lines.
