Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts before beginning the repair.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before working on it.
2. Replace Ignition Coil
  1. Remove the engine cover using the appropriate socket.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil on cylinder 2.
  3. Remove the bolt securing the ignition coil using a socket set.
  4. Carefully pull the ignition coil out of the cylinder head.
  5. Install the new ignition coil by reversing the removal steps.
    • Ensure it is seated properly and the bolt is torqued to specifications (typically around 10 Nm).
3. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Using a spark plug socket, carefully remove the spark plug from cylinder 2.
  2. Inspect the old spark plug; if it shows signs of wear (e.g., excessive carbon buildup), replace it with a new one.
  3. Gap the new spark plug according to manufacturer specifications (typically around 0.7-0.8 mm for BMW).
  4. Install the new spark plug, tightening it to the recommended torque (generally around 25 Nm).
4. Inspect Fuel Injector
  1. If the misfire persists, locate the fuel injector for cylinder 2.
  2. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connector.
  3. Remove the fuel rail (if necessary) to access the fuel injector.
  4. Clean or replace the fuel injector if clogged.
  5. Reinstall the injector and ensure all connections are secure.
