Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools required: socket set, jack and jack stands, power steering fluid, and a torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Check the fluid level; if low, top off with the manufacturer-recommended power steering fluid.
  • If the fluid is dark or contaminated, drain and replace it:
    1. Disconnect the return line from the pump.
    2. Allow fluid to drain into a container.
    3. Reconnect the return line, then refill the reservoir with new fluid.
3. Examine and Replace Worn Components
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Inspect tie rods and control arms for signs of wear.
    • If any parts are damaged, remove the bolts using a socket set and replace with new components.
  • Check the CV joints for any tears or grinding noise:
    • If damaged, remove the axle by loosening the axle nut with a socket set, then pull the axle out of the hub.
4. Wheel Bearing Inspection and Replacement
  • Rotate the wheel while listening for grinding noises.
  • If the wheel bearing is suspect, remove the wheel and brake caliper:
    1. Use a socket set to remove the caliper bolts.
    2. Inspect the bearing for play by trying to move it with your hand.
    3. If it’s loose, replace it by removing the bearing hub assembly bolts and installing a new wheel bearing.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall any components that were removed, ensuring to torque bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and perform a final inspection.
