Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues during repair.
2. Locate and Assess the Leak
  • Tools Required: Flashlight
  • Use the flashlight to pinpoint the source of the coolant leak based on your diagnostic findings.
  • Clean the area around the suspected leak to better identify the source.
3. Replace Damaged Components

A. Hoses

  • Tools Required: Hose clamp pliers, socket set
  • Remove the damaged hose by loosening the clamps and sliding the hose off.
  • Install the new hose by sliding it onto the fitting and securing it with clamps.

B. Water Pump

  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper
  • Remove the serpentine belt by releasing the tensioner.
  • Disconnect coolant hoses and electrical connections from the water pump.
  • Remove water pump bolts using the socket set and carefully remove the pump.
  • Clean the mating surface on the engine block and install the new water pump with a new gasket, tightening bolts to manufacturer torque specifications.

C. Radiator

  • Tools Required: Socket set, pliers, coolant funnel
  • Remove the front grille or any components obstructing access to the radiator.
  • Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses and remove mounting bolts.
  • Carefully remove the radiator and install a new one, ensuring all connections are secure.
4. Refill and Bleed Cooling System
  • Tools Required: Coolant funnel
  • Refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant mixture as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Use the funnel to fill the system and remove air pockets by running the engine with the cap off until the thermostat opens, allowing coolant to circulate.
