Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack stands, wheel chocks, brake cleaner, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle depending on which brake pads are being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands and place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to expose the brake assembly.
4. Remove Brake Caliper
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Unbolt the caliper using the socket set and carefully slide it off the rotor.
  • Hang the caliper using a wire or bungee cord to avoid putting strain on the brake line.
5. Remove Old Brake Pads
  • Slide the old brake pads out of their slots.
  • Inspect the caliper and rotor for wear or damage.
6. Install New Brake Pads
  • Parts Required: New brake pads suitable for BMW X3 G01.
  • Slide the new pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are correctly oriented.
7. Reinstall Brake Caliper
  • Reposition the caliper over the new pads and bolt it back in place using a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specifications.
8. Reattach the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back on the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then use the torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
9. Final Check
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the new pads.
  • Check brake fluid level and add if necessary.
