Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during repairs.
2. Clean or Replace Air Filter
  • Remove the air filter housing cover using a socket set.
  • Take out the air filter and inspect for dirt and debris.
    • If dirty, replace it with a new OEM air filter.
    • If clean, reinstall the air filter and cover.
3. Inspect and Clean Throttle Body
  • Locate the throttle body and detach the intake duct connected to it.
  • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the internal surfaces of the throttle body.
  • Reassemble the intake duct securely to the throttle body.
4. Replace Spark Plugs
  • Remove the ignition coils using a ratchet and socket.
  • Unscrew old spark plugs using a spark plug socket and inspect for wear.
  • Install the new spark plugs to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (typically around 22 lb-ft).
  • Reinstall the ignition coils ensuring they are seated properly.
5. Check and Repair Vacuum Leaks
  • Use a smoke machine to identify any vacuum leaks around hoses and connections.
  • Replace any damaged vacuum hoses or gaskets found during inspection.
6. Replace Idle Air Control Valve (if necessary)
  • Disconnect electrical connector from the IAC.
  • Remove mounting screws and take out the IAC.
  • Install the new IAC and reconnect the electrical connector.
