Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: wrench set, OBD-II scanner, vacuum gauge, brake fluid.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Replace Brake Booster
  1. Check Brake Booster Functionality

    • Start the vehicle and press the brake pedal. The pedal should drop slightly if the booster is functioning. If it remains heavy, proceed to the next step.
  2. Vacuum Check

    • Using a vacuum gauge, check the vacuum line connected to the brake booster for proper vacuum levels. If low, inspect and replace the vacuum hose as necessary.
  3. Remove Brake Booster

    • Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder.
    • Unbolt the brake booster from the firewall and carefully remove it from the vehicle.
    • Tools Required: socket set, wrench set.
  4. Install New Brake Booster

    • Position the new brake booster in place and secure it with bolts.
    • Reconnect the brake lines to the master cylinder and ensure no leaks occur.
    • Reconnect the vacuum line.
3. Refill and Bleed Brake System
  1. Refill Brake Fluid

    • Refill the brake fluid reservoir with the appropriate brake fluid type as per the manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Bleed Brake Lines

    • Starting at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder, bleed each brake line to ensure there are no air bubbles.
    • Tools Required: brake bleeder kit.
