Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Lift the vehicle using a hydraulic jack and support it on jack stands.
2. Remove Wheel Assembly
  1. Remove the Wheel

    • Loosen the lug nuts using a socket set.
    • Remove the wheel and set it aside.
  2. Remove the Brake Caliper

    • Use a socket to unbolt the caliper from the bracket.
    • Hang the caliper with a bungee cord to avoid strain on the brake line.
  3. Remove the Brake Rotor

    • If applicable, remove any retaining screws and pull the rotor off the hub.
3. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearing
  1. Remove Hub Assembly

    • Unbolt the hub assembly from the steering knuckle using a socket set.
    • Carefully pull the hub assembly from the knuckle.
  2. Replace the Wheel Bearing

    • Use a bearing puller to remove the old bearing from the hub.
    • Clean the hub area and install the new bearing using a bearing press, ensuring it is seated properly.
4. Reassemble Components
  1. Reattach Hub Assembly

    • Bolt the hub assembly back to the steering knuckle and torque bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  2. Reinstall Brake Rotor and Caliper

    • Place the brake rotor back onto the hub and reinstall the caliper.
    • Ensure all bolts are torqued to spec.
  3. Reinstall Wheel

    • Place the wheel back onto the hub and tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.
5. Lower Vehicle and Test Drive
  • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle.
  • Test drive to verify noise is eliminated.
