Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, wheel chocks, socket set, torque wrench, power steering fluid, replacement parts if needed.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  1. Locate the power steering reservoir.
  2. Remove the cap and check the fluid level.
  3. If low, add the appropriate type of power steering fluid as per the owner's manual.
  4. If fluid is contaminated, proceed to replace it:
    • Disconnect the return line from the power steering pump and drain the fluid.
    • Reconnect the return line and refill the reservoir with new fluid.
    • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel side to side to purge air from the system.
3. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearings
  1. Raise the vehicle and remove the front wheel.
  2. Check the wheel bearing for any play by grasping the wheel at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and attempting to rock it.
  3. If play is detected, remove the brake caliper (support it with a bungee cord), and then remove the rotor.
  4. Remove the hub assembly to access the wheel bearing. Replace with a new bearing if necessary, using a bearing press.
  5. Reassemble the components in reverse order, ensuring all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
4. Inspect Suspension Components
  1. Visually inspect control arms, tie rod ends, and bushings for wear or damage.
  2. Replace any worn or damaged components.
  3. Reassemble and tighten all fasteners to the specified torque.
