Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
2. Check and Top Off Oil Level
  • Tools Required: Engine oil, funnel, dipstick.
  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the oil level.
  • If the oil level is low, add the appropriate type and amount of oil using a funnel.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan.
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil filter.
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten slightly with the wrench.
4. Inspect and Replace Oil Pump (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, oil pump gasket.
  • Drain the engine oil completely into the oil catch pan.
  • Remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts with a socket set.
  • Detach the old oil pump and replace it with a new one, ensuring the gasket is properly aligned.
  • Reinstall the oil pan and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
5. Fill with New Oil
  • Tools Required: Funnel, new engine oil.
  • Pour the appropriate amount of new engine oil into the engine.
  • Recheck the oil level using the dipstick and add more oil if necessary.
6. Reconnect Battery and Start Engine
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  • Check for any leaks and ensure the oil pressure warning light has turned off.
