Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, screwdriver set, stethoscope (optional)
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems. Allow the engine to cool before opening the hood.
2. Inspect and Replace Belts
  1. Remove the Engine Cover

    • Unscrew any fasteners securing the engine cover.
    • Carefully lift off the cover and set it aside.
  2. Inspect Serpentine Belt

    • Check for any signs of wear, cracks, or fraying.
    • If damaged, proceed to replace the belt.
  3. Replace Serpentine Belt

    • Loosen the tensioner pulley using a socket wrench.
    • Remove the old belt and thread the new belt according to the routing diagram.
    • Tighten the tensioner pulley back to specifications.
3. Inspect and Replace Alternator or Accessories
  1. Check Alternator Functionality

    • Use a multimeter to measure voltage output. A healthy alternator should produce between 13.5 to 14.5 volts.
    • If the alternator is faulty, disconnect the battery and remove the alternator.
  2. Replace Alternator

    • Unplug the electrical connectors and remove the mounting bolts.
    • Install the new alternator and reconnect all electrical connectors.
    • Reconnect the battery and test for noise.
4. Check Power Steering Pump
  1. Inspect Power Steering Fluid

    • Ensure the fluid is at the correct level and is not dirty or aerated.
  2. Replace Power Steering Pump

    • If noise persists, disconnect the battery.
    • Remove the serpentine belt and unbolt the power steering pump.
    • Install the new pump and refill fluid to the proper level.
