Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Fuel line disconnect tool
    • Torque wrench
    • Container for fuel spillage
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure
  • Locate the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box and remove it to disable the fuel pump.
  • Start the engine and let it run until it stalls to relieve pressure in the fuel lines.
  • Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts.
3. Access the Fuel Filter
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands if necessary.
  • Locate the fuel filter, which is typically found along the fuel line under the vehicle.
  • If applicable, remove any protective covers or shields obstructing access to the fuel filter.
4. Remove the Old Fuel Filter
  • Use the fuel line disconnect tool to carefully detach the fuel lines from both ends of the fuel filter. Be prepared for some fuel spillage; use the container to catch any excess fuel.
  • Remove the mounting bolts or clips holding the fuel filter in place and take out the old fuel filter.
5. Install the New Fuel Filter
  • Ensure the new fuel filter is oriented correctly (check for arrows indicating fuel flow).
  • Position the new fuel filter in place and secure it with the mounting bolts or clips.
  • Reattach the fuel lines, ensuring they are fully seated and secure to prevent leaks.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Replace the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (without starting the engine) for a few seconds to allow the fuel pump to prime the system.
  • Start the engine and check for any leaks around the fuel filter and lines.
