Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and use wheel chocks for safety.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Check and Replace Clutch Fluid
  • Locate the clutch fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check fluid condition; replace if contaminated.
  • Use DOT 4 brake fluid to refill the reservoir to the correct level.
3. Inspect and Replace the Clutch Master Cylinder
  • Remove the clutch fluid line from the master cylinder using a wrench.
  • Unbolt the master cylinder from the firewall (usually requires a socket set).
  • Install the new master cylinder in reverse order of removal, ensuring all connections are tight.
4. Inspect and Replace the Clutch Slave Cylinder
  • Locate the slave cylinder on the transmission.
  • Remove the hydraulic line and unbolt the slave cylinder from the transmission.
  • Install the new slave cylinder and reconnect the hydraulic line.
5. Bleed the Clutch System
  • Fill the clutch fluid reservoir with new DOT 4 brake fluid.
  • Have an assistant press the clutch pedal while you open the bleed screw on the slave cylinder.
  • Close the bleed screw before the pedal is released; repeat until no air bubbles are present.
