Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Remove the ignition coil for cylinder 3:
    • Unplug the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
    • Remove the mounting bolts securing the coil.
    • Carefully pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
  • Remove the old spark plug using a spark plug socket.
  • Install a new spark plug:
    • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug.
    • Torque the spark plug to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 23 Nm).
  • Reinstall the ignition coil:
    • Insert the coil back into the spark plug well.
    • Secure it with the mounting bolts and reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Replace Ignition Coil (if necessary)
  • If the ignition coil shows signs of damage or wear during inspection:
    • Remove it as described above.
    • Install a new ignition coil by reversing the removal steps.
4. Replace Fuel Injector (if necessary)
  • If the fuel injector for cylinder 3 is found to be faulty:
    • Disconnect the fuel line with a fuel line removal tool (exercise caution and have a rag ready to catch any fuel).
    • Unplug the electrical connector from the fuel injector.
    • Remove the fuel injector retaining clips and pull the injector out.
    • Install the new injector and reconnect the electrical connector and fuel line.
5. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Start the engine and let it idle, checking for any misfire symptoms or warning lights.
