Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set (including a spark plug socket)
  • Torque wrench
  • Ratchet and extensions
  • Anti-seize compound
  • Compressed air (optional, for cleaning)
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Using a socket wrench, remove any engine covers that obstruct access to the spark plugs.
  • Carefully set aside the covers to avoid damage.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil.
  • Unbolt the ignition coils using the appropriate socket.
  • Gently pull out each ignition coil from its respective cylinder.
4. Remove Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect each spark plug for wear or damage as they are removed.
  • Use compressed air to blow out any debris from the spark plug holes.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (avoid getting it on the electrode).
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 23 Nm or 17 ft-lbs).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Reinsert the ignition coils into their respective positions and bolt them down securely.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
7. Reinstall Engine Covers
  • Position the engine covers back in place and secure them with the bolts removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
