Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack and jack stands, wheel chocks
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels for safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which shocks are being replaced first.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to prevent any movement.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the shock absorber.
4. Remove the Shock Absorber
  • Locate the upper and lower mounting bolts of the shock absorber.
  • Using the socket set, remove the lower bolt first, then the upper bolt.
  • Carefully remove the shock absorber from its mounting position.
5. Install New Shock Absorber
  • Position the new shock absorber in place.
  • Install the upper bolt first, followed by the lower bolt.
  • Tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque values (consult the service manual for exact specifications).
6. Reinstall the Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and then torque the lug nuts to specification.
7. Repeat for Other Shocks
  • If replacing multiple shocks, repeat steps 2-6 for each shock absorber as necessary.
