Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, multimeter, OBD-II scanner, small socket set.
  • Safety Warnings: Make sure the vehicle is off and parked safely before starting any repair.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Open the key fob using a flathead screwdriver.
  • Remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery.
  • Ensure the battery is placed correctly with the positive side facing up.
  • Reassemble the key fob and test its functionality.
3. Reprogram Key Fob
  • Sit inside the vehicle with all doors closed.
  • Insert the key into the ignition but do not start the engine.
  • Turn the key from position 0 to position 2 (ignition on) five times, ending in position 2.
  • Press any button on the key fob within 30 seconds to program it.
  • Turn the ignition to position 0 and exit the vehicle using the key fob.
4. Inspect and Repair Keyless Entry Antenna
  • Remove the trim panel covering the keyless entry antenna, usually located near the windshield.
  • Visually inspect the antenna for any signs of damage or loose connections.
  • If damaged, replace the antenna. If connections are loose, secure them properly.
5. Verify Vehicle Battery Voltage
  • Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the vehicle battery; it should be at least 12.6 volts.
  • If the voltage is low, recharge or replace the battery as necessary.
