Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • OBD-II scanner
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Compression tester
  • Noid light or multimeter
2. Replace Ignition Coil (if faulty)
  • Remove the engine cover to access the ignition coils.
  • Unplug the electrical connector from the ignition coil on cylinder 3.
  • Use a socket to remove the bolt securing the ignition coil.
  • Pull the ignition coil out of the spark plug well.
  • Install the new ignition coil, securing it with the bolt and reconnecting the electrical connector.
3. Replace Spark Plug (if worn)
  • With the ignition coil removed, use a spark plug socket to unscrew the spark plug from cylinder 3.
  • Check the gap on the new spark plug and adjust it to manufacturer specifications.
  • Install the new spark plug by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten it with a torque wrench to the specified torque (typically around 15 ft-lbs).
4. Check/Replace Fuel Injector (if necessary)
  • If the injector is found faulty, disconnect the fuel line and electrical connector from the fuel injector in cylinder 3.
  • Remove the fuel injector retaining clips and pull the injector out.
  • Install the new injector, ensuring it seats properly and reconnect the electrical connector and fuel line.
5. Final Assembly
  • Reinstall the ignition coil and engine cover.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
